Haley, Monica, Kiera and Nate's reflections...

Dear family and friends,
Haley and Daniel
Hi from Haiti!  I am excited to tell you all that this trip has been amazing so far! I have had some crazy experiences, some good and some gross (like the tarantula Daniel caught...and kept...and put in a jar...along with a lizard to eat.)  One of my favorite things we have done so far is the home visitations.  It is a powerful experience when you get to pray, read Scripture and sing to someone who needs help. God has shown me how great of a provider He is for us. I knew that I was blessed back in America, but I had no idea how GREATLY I was blessed.  Even though the people here have nothing, I have met some of the most joyful and giving hearts.  I can't wait to share more when I get home.  I love and miss you all!
Love, Haley

Bonswa!

Hello from Haiti!  I have been having such an amazing time so far.  My favorite thing I have done these past days would have to be our time we get to spend with the students from HAFF, mostly hearing their testimonies.  There have been simple signs from God in these past few days concerning my future in missions work.  Before, I was wondering if my present path was the way God wanted me to go.  There have been a few times that brought tears to my eyes because now I am sure that God is calling me to do missions work in Russia.  I am so blessed for having the opportunity to come to Haiti and see God's work in progress.  Merci for the prayers!  (Mom, Dad, and Dima -- I love you and miss you!)  - Monica Koert

Dear friends and family,
Hello from Haiti!  I want to tell you about something I learned while I've been here.  Yesterday in the morning we did home visits.  Before we separated into our groups, we met a man named Marcel who has 10 kids.  He also pastors the church and leads the school where we met with him.  He talked to us about his work with the children and families in the area.  Marcel came with my group when we headed on our way to the houses. Marcel's son was at one of them and as I watched the interactions between Marcel and his son, it reminded me of God's love for us.  Marcel's son came to him and Marcel welcomed him, when I asked if the boy was his son, he said yes and he was so excited to tell me about him.  Marcel has several kids, but treasures them all with so much love!  Just like God has many children but loves us all unconditionally.  I'll think about that for a long time.
Thank you for your prayers!

Hello America!
Haiti has been amazing so far!  Everyday I see things that I've never seen before.  Haiti is such a beautiful country and the people are super friendly.  I think that my favorite part was probably the home visits.  Those were when we went to the houses of people who were sick or had lost a family member. We sang to them, read the Bible, and prayed.  The one that had the most impact on me was probably the first one.  I didn't know really what to expect.  When we got there, we sang, prayed, and read to a really sick woman who was lying down in a bed in pain.  I really felt how powerful God was knowing that He has the power to heal and I am really hoping that God will used this situation to glorify His name.  It is great to know that God has the power to heal, and that everything is in His hands.

I hope that you all are doing great in America, and thanks so much for your prayers.
-Nathan Roels
