Saturday morning reflections by Arielle Baker

Hello Everyone!

Well, we have been in Haiti for almost three days.  I can’t believe how fast this week is going! It took a while to adjust to the conditions here. We had to get used to the bugs, bathrooms (outhouses) and sleeping in a different place.  Haiti is absolutely gorgeous in the day. There are beautiful mountains and palm trees. My favorite part has been interacting with the kids.  They are excited to see us and so cute and happy.

This week I  wanted to focus on having joy in life. I have met Christians here who have so much less than me, but are so joyful!  I have so much to be thankful for and so often I still find myself complaining and unhappy.  Being here puts things in perspective and reminds me of how great our God is!  Another thing I’ve noticed in the Haitian Christians I’ve met is their dedication to prayer.  They really rely on prayer and know the power of prayer.  I know I don’t always view prayer as the powerful thing that it is.  It has been a great reminder to all of us that God works through the prayers of His people and He hears our prayers.

I can’t wait for everything else God has for us here.

P.S. I have never seen so many stars in my whole life...last night the sky was absolutely amazing!
