Thursday afternoon...just a great day!

We had the sweet opportunity to visit an oxen powered sugar cane press. I call
this a "living text book" as it is just like they pressed cane in colonial days.  When you
read about this, though, you don't have the smells, sounds, and atmosphere!

Cane cutters, getting the stalks ready to feed the press.

Would you like this job?  Driving the oxen around and around

A dangerous job...feeding the cane into the press.

The vat which is boiling the sugar cane juice down to syrup
to make molasses or turn into rum.

Near the sugar cane fields is the Bohoc River.  This truck is filling up with water
for the company building the new highway through the region to make cement.
Route Nationale #3 through the Central Plateau is being financed by the European Union.

What an amazing sight to see!

Our ride back to the HAFF campus in the back of a big Mitsubishi Truck.

The HAFF sign at the entrance of the campus.
"Education for the Glory of God"

Ending the day with home visits was a great blessing. We divided into two
groups and went to visit those who are suffering.  This dear woman
suffered a stroke recently and her left arm is paralyzed.  We sang to her
read Scripture in Creole and English, and several students prayed for her.
What a privilege to minister in Jesus name to the these dear people who
are rich in faith.
